In Prison!
We continue to work in an increasing number of prisons in summarising prisoners' medical records and training prison healthcare staff in SystmOne. Meanwhile our summarising work for PCTs and NHS surgeries has not abated and we are actively summarising across the country. We estimate we have now summarised over 2.3 million patients' records to computer. This has an overall patient benefit as our summarising means that persons health can be checked with a click of a button, rather than flicking through page after page of a paper file.

J.Meads and Associates work with the CQC
With the advent of the new regulations required by the Care Quality Commission, we have been assisting several domiciliary care agencies in ensuring their policies and producers are up to date in preparation for their assessments.

Hayley Parker - Care Assistant for a local authority says "The new policies and procedures have greatly increased the quality of care provided to the service users. This has vastly improved their health and wellbeing."

It is of the utmost importance for agencies to comply with the requirements and standards set by the Commission as failure to do so could result in their closure. This would ultimately affect those who need the care the most. J. Meads and Associates have received very positive feedback from those agencies we are helping to keep up to scratch, and by continuing to do so we hope to help create a better care system for those in greatest need.

We have also been assisting a private nutritional centre in London to register with the CQC and ensuring they comply with all of the red tape.

Exemplary CQC Inspection for Practice Nurse Agency
We have once again achieved a glowing review at the annual assessment by the Care Quality Commission for Social Care Inspection (CQC).

During the half day inspection, the it was found that the agency met the standing in ALL areas assessed. Nursing staff provided by Meads are highly trained and well qualified, and the agency emphasises working in partnership with the GP practices using its services. As the inspectors examined records and discussed procedures and policies with the Meads management team, they found evidence of a wealth of expertise and a full understanding of primary care needs. They observed that the agency also provides its nurses with a comprehensive and continously evolving programme of training to ensure they are bang up to date.

As part of the assessment, the CQC also surveyed 6 randomly chosen GP practices that use the Meads nurses agency. All confirmed that the agency is well organised, provides good continuity of service and communicates information on its services clearly via the newsletter and website. The feedback included: \"We receive excellent service from the agency, and the staff they have provided for us have been first class.\"

Managing Director Judy Meads commented, \"The team work really hard to meet the standards set out for us, so we are extremely proud to achieve such positive feedback from the inspectors and our clients\"

The full inspection report is available from www.cqc.org.uk. The CQC regularly inspect licenced agencies, to assess whether services are meeting the needs of people who use them.
